Ritos e Contraculturas rurais é un proxecto que explora os rituais e as contraculturas na Galicia rural, cuestionando as relacións entre espazos e territorios. Galicia, habitualmente asociada coa natureza, foi romantizada e historicamente vinculada desde o século XIX ao misticismo e á dicotomía natureza/cultura. A obra procura desafiar estes imaxinarios binarios, como rural/urbano e tradición/modernidade, ao tempo que constrúe un arquivo da transformación dos mitos e das tradicións xunto co propio territorio.
Ritos e Contraculturas rurais is a project that explores rituals and countercultures in rural Galicia, questioning the relationships between spaces and territories. Galicia, usually associated with nature, has been romanticized, historically linked since the 19th century to mysticism and a nature/culture dichotomy. The work seeks to challenge these binary imaginaries, such as rural/urban and tradition/modernity, while simultaneously building an archive of the transformation of myths and traditions alongside the territory itself.
SANTA MARTA
Esta primeira peza naceu do regreso ao fogar en As Neves, aos rituais de Santa Marta, á súa procesión que nos acompaña desde a infancia, un espazo que funde o antigo co contemporáneo. O traballo explora as perspectivas entre o global e o local, as tradicións e as masas, e a influencia da tecnoloxía na cultura, tanto como medio de preservación como dispositivo colonial para difundir a "realidade" a través da construción da perspectiva.
This first piece was born from the return home to As Neves, to the rituals of Santa Marta, to its procession that has accompanied us since childhood, a space that fuses the ancient and the contemporary. This work explores the perspectives between the global and the local, traditions and the masses, and the influence of technology on culture, both as a means of preservation and as a colonial device for disseminating "reality" through the construction of the perspective.

A SENRA
Os petos de ánimas xunto a pontes romanas ou románicas crean unha conexión simbólica entre dous elementos clave da paisaxe: a morte e a vida, o tránsito e a permanencia. Pola súa natureza, as pontes son espazos de paso, unindo lugares ou épocas, e xa no mundo romano representaban ese liña entre diferentes realidades ou estados, entre o aquí e o alén. Neste contexto, o peto de ánimas, cunha función de interceder polos defuntos e aliviar as súas penas, tamén simboliza ese tránsito, pero no sentido espiritual. A súa ubicación xunto a pontes pode estar asociada a un desexo de protexer os viaxeiros, persoas que cruzaban o río ou a ponte, moitas veces no camiño cara ao máis aló. A ponte, como elemento de paso, reflicte ese movemento constante entre o mundo dos vivos e o dos mortos. Á súa vez, o peto de ánimas invita á reflexión sobre a necesidade de oracións e esmolas para aliviar a alma dos difuntos, ao mesmo tempo que actúa como un recordatorio do efémero que é a vida humana.
The soul shrines next to Roman bridges create a symbolic connection between two key elements of the landscape: death and life, transition and permanence. By their nature, bridges are spaces of passage, connecting places or eras, and even in the Roman world, they represented the line between different realities or states, between here and the beyond. In this context, the soul shrine, with a function of interceding for the deceased and easing their suffering, also symbolizes that transition, but in a spiritual sense.
Their location next to bridges may be associated with a desire to protect travelers, people who crossed the river or the bridge, often on the journey toward the afterlife. The bridge, as an element of passage, reflects that constant movement between the world of the living and the dead. In turn, the soul shrine invites reflection on the need for prayers and alms to ease the souls of the departed, while also acting as a reminder of the fleeting nature of human life.
